Brooklyn Square
4142 Brooklyn Ave NE
Built in 1906, Brooklyn Square was originally home to the United Methodist Episcopal Church. It served as the University of Washington’s chapel until it was abandoned for several years. Then, in the early 1980s, Blume Company Real Estate teamed up with contractor Jim Freeman to restore the dilapidated church.
The renovation turned this historic building into a mixed-use development that enriched the unique and creative feel of the neighborhood. Although Brooklyn Square is no longer part of the Blume portfolio, it remains an active and well-utilized property in the University District.
