University Center

The Blume family operated a Chevrolet car dealership on the University Center site beginning in 1936.  Blume Company Real Estate Chairman and CEO, Bruce Blume, had a different vision for the site. In 1985 he developed a mixed-use project, University Center, which included a multiplex cinema, restaurant, retail and office space.  A build-to-suit for Trader Joe’s brought a new grocery anchor to the center in 1998.

University Center is home to one of American Multi-Cinema, Inc.’s (AMC) 380 worldwide locations and a Trader Joe’s grocery store.  The center also includes We Yoga Co., Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Good to Go!, and University Physical Therapy.

With construction underway for Sound Transit’s Link Light Rail U District Station and the recent University District rezone, Blume looks forward to continued revitalization of the neighborhood.
