University Center

The Blume family operated a Chevrolet car dealership on the University Center site beginning in 1936.  Blume Company Real Estate Chairman and CEO, Bruce Blume, had a different vision for the site. In 1985 he developed a mixed-use project, University Center, which included a multiplex cinema, restaurant, retail and office space.  A build-to-suit for Trader Joe’s brought a new grocery anchor to the center in 1998.

Sundance Cinemas, a Robert Redford company, leased the University Center multiplex in 2012 and implemented significant upgrades and a new format for the theatre.  The center also includes Performance Bike, We Yoga Co., Trader Joe’s, Princeton Review and Half Price Books.

With construction underway for Sound Transit’s Link Light Rail U District Station and the upcoming rezone for the University District, Blume looks forward to additional expansion of University Center.
